I was wondering how one could best serve new Coaches, Facilitators, Counsellors, Health-, Massage Practitioners, Psychologists or others in the Health Service and Support Professions. The most prevalent problem for most people in the service industry, probably all business, is to get new clients. If you are new to your profession and you are starting off on your own, the ideal is to get experience as fast as you can, and then start worrying about an income. You will find when you have the self-confidence, the money follows. If you have referrals, testimonials and experience, it makes it much easier to sell yourself.
You may also wonder what would be the best form of marketing if you have been going for a while. Is it better to put an ad in a magazine, and if so, what size brings the best results, does it need to be color, and so on. Do you need to do radio and other talks. Should I network?
How about networking. How much time should you spend on that? Is it worth it? Where should you go to network, and so on. Who to coach?
A good question is who do you want to coach? If you are intimidated by or un-comfortable in the company of high-flying executives, I would suggest you work up to working with them if that is your desire, otherwise you are setting yourself up to fail. If you speak their language, go right ahead.
If you have been a home executive all your life, then the corporate environment is probably not the best place to start.
What do you love doing? What are your passtimes or hobbies? What are you paying to learn more about? What people do you love interacting with? What have you struggled with and overcome?
